Emmaline Ruppclose Cymbeline

Emmalene is a fourth year social work major with minors in writing and music from Wooster, OH. In addition to Cymbeline, she has had roles in four GC mainstage productions: Bright Star, Crimes of the Heart, Pirates of Penzance, and Mother Hicks. You may also have seen her having a nervous breakdown as Amy in A Musical Cabaret of Light and Love. Other work includes props designing for Almost, Maine and a facilitating for EnACTing Support, a sexual violence education program using applied theatre. Outside of theatre, she enjoys writing, singing, and advocating for others. She is also an Enneagram 1 who is constantly filled with righteous anger. She congratulates her Cymbeline family on their beautiful work that bloomed out of very difficult circumstances.

Willa Beidler is a second year student majoring in Molecular Biology and minoring in Musical Theater. She played Imogen in this production and was also in the Musical Theater Scenes and Almost, Maine last school year. Outside of the theater world, Willa enjoys hiking, singing, and gardening.

Ben is a junior at GC. He is studying biochemistry/molecular biology with a theatre minor and plans to attend medical school after graduation. In his time at GC, Ben has performed in several productions, including as young Jimmy Ray in Bright Star and Doc Porter in Crimes of the Heart. He is so excited to finally be able to showcase all that he and the rest of the team involved with Cymbeline have been working on for the past two semesters. He would like to thank all of the designers, cast, crew, and directing team for all that they have done to put together this performance in these crazy times.

Laura Miller is a GC senior, double majoring in Writing and Spanish. In addition to her role as the Queen in Cymbeline, you may have seen Laura in Crimes of the Heart, That All of Us Should Be Fed, or Here Come the Barbarians, among other things. Though acting is her favorite role in the theatre, she has also worked in costume design during her time at GC, assisting or leading the team for four different shows. When she is not in the theatre, Laura likes to read, write poetry, and travel around the country and the world. Laura would like to thank each and every participant in this show for all of the time and energy they have invested in this process. She cannot overstress her admiration for your dedication. In addition to playing the role of Posthumus in our adaptation of Shakespeare’s Cymbeline, Bek has also had roles in productions such as A Musical Cabaret of Light and Love, Bright Star, and Pirates of Penzance here at GC. They have also been involved with sound design and recently designed the set for GC’s 2020 Homecoming Peace Plays. Outside of the theater, Bek enjoys music, singing, yoga, laughing, and finding ways to live sustainably. Bek would like to recognize and appreciate all of the incredible people who have believed in this project from the start and have dedicated their time and art to such a collaborative experience amidst difficult times.

Dali Rodriguez is a senior Theater major at Goshen College. Aside from playing the role of Pisanio in Cymbeline, she has been involved in multiple productions throughout her years at GC including Almost, Maine, History Lesson, Eisegesis, and Bright Star. Apart from theater, she also enjoys film and broadcasting. Her biggest passion is acting and she hopes to pursue it once she graduates in 2021.

In addition to being one of Cloten’s Lords for this production, she has helped make the video aspect of what you are about to watch! She’s been very thankful for her time at GC as she has been one to try a variety of areas: acting, hair and makeup design, directing, and now this opportunity through Cymbeline. This production has been an interesting journey, from combining her two majors (Film Production and Theater) to the many “interruptions” throughout the process. Shianne would like to thank Ash Caldera and Madison Swartzendruber for their support throughout the filming process.

Tobias is a senior dual concentration theater major with focuses in performing and design/tech. Tobias played both Caius Lucius and Philario in this production; in addition they also designed props for this production. They have also designed props for Crimes of the Heart, Almost Maine, and several One Acts. They have also performed in a variety of shows at GC as well as the Goshen Art House, such as Mother Hicks, Bright Star, Dog Whistle, Pirates of Penzance, and various One Acts. Outside of theater, you’ll find Tobias at their full time job at Family Dollar where they work as an assistant manager. For fun you may find them writing, playing games online, watching TikTok, or (in a Covid free world) hanging out with friends

Abigail Brunk Greaser is a student at Goshen College working towards degrees in Violin Performance and Theatre. Abigail is currently the Vice President of the GC-Players and has been involved in multiple GC theatre productions including Mother Hicks, Pirates of Penzance, Crimes of the Heart, Bright Star, and Peace Play Pandemic. Last spring Abigail devised an original show, Bodies of Eden, combining elements of movement and dance to explore societal pressures and our relationships with our bodies. This summer Abigail interned at Wabash College assistant directing Sojourn Theatre’s The Race and will be published in the upcoming volume of the Routledge Undergraduate Research Series. Abigail is excited for all the hard work to come together for Cymbeline and to finally share it with an audience.

Cara Wilson is a Senior double majoring in film production and theatre with an acting concentration. Cara plays the roles of Guiderius and the messenger. She also works as a leader in the Black Student Union (BSU) and the Student Ministry Team (SMT). She loves singing, superheroes, films, and Michael Jackson, so basically she is a certified fan girl! Acting is her passion and she plans to move to LA to pursue her dream after she graduates. She would like to thank her roommate Dali for being there with her through the Cymbeline/Covid process and for much more.

Cristina (she/her) graduated from Goshen College in 2020 with writing and theatre degrees. She was originally cast as Belarius in Cymbeline. Now she’s one of the narrators (Jupiter's Augurs), but she’ll be present as Belarius...in a funnier way than before. You may have seen her on the Umble Center stage as Lil in Kindertransport, Clovis P. Eudy in Mother Hicks, Chick Boyle in Crimes of the Heart, Marie/Cleo in The Intruder, Christine Thorpe in Abra Cadaver, and Zoe in Anniversary Season.

Olivia is a 2020 GC grad who embodied everything from the naive daughter of Senator Joseph McCarthy to a Southern spirit to a murderous housewife in her time in the GC theatre program. She loved being able to wear many hats; through acting, designing, directing and student leadership. She will be forever thankful for all the friends, mentoring and memories that the Theatre Department has given her and is thrilled to give the Umble Stage a proper goodbye through Cymbeline: Interrupted.

Lauren is a 2020 graduate of Goshen college who is very happy to have the opportunity to continue to work on Cymbeline! Jonah Yoder, a 2019 GC Grad, acted as both Stage Manager and Interim Technical Director during the initial Cymbeline production in the Spring of 2020. During his time at Goshen College, Jonah was involved in theatre both onstage (Pirates of Penzance, Party Favors, Bombers) and behind the scenes (Bright Star, 2019 Spring One Acts, Kindertransport, Red Herring). Jonah is honored to have been asked to return to his alma mater to assist in the production of Cymbeline. Jerry Peters has been living the theater dream since his first foray into the seductive world of theater as a high school sophomore (no, he's not disclosing the year). Barring a few hiatuses to explore other interests (furniture design, teaching English in Japan, swimming instructor) Jerry has been “doing theater” ever since. Highlights include: The Wizard of Oz (The Barn Playhouse), Into The Woods (Goshen College), Big Love (Goshen College), Much Ado About Nothing (Goshen College), Romeo and Juliet (GoShakes Theatre). Jerry is a food snob, and can frequently be found at his favorite downtown haunts: Goshen Brewing Company, Pizzeria Venturi, EAT, and Canalé Café. Jerry is currently managing the technical and facility renovations at the 113 year old Goshen Theater in beautiful downtown Goshen. Huge thanks to the GC crew, cast, and staff for helping me remember how much fun (and hard work) it is to do educational theater!

Anna Kurtz Kuk is Associate Professor of Theater and Department Chair at Goshen College. She has an MFA in Theater Pedagogy from Virginia Commonwealth University. She has worked at the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival, Sauk Valley Community College, Shakespeare at Notre Dame, and the Nebraska Shakespeare Festival, among others.

Michelle Milne (she/her) has worked as a director, performer, writer, and educator across the US. Recent directing includes Light Princess, Every Brilliant Thing (Mac Nominee: Best Director & Best Comedy, Tucson), Brontë (Drammy Award: Best Production, Portland), Macbeth, Romeo & Juliet (Best Regional Production, SB Tribune), and We Own This Now (movement director). She regularly performs with Ted Swartz in WOTN; they are also developing a new show about the Enneagram. Michelle has performed her writing with musician Heather Kropf in We Know There Are Oceans, and as “Carmelina du Jour” in Chicago’s Poetry Bordello. Her devised performances Edge Effects and Telling of the Bees premiered in San Francisco. She is a Feldenkrais practitioner; and has taught theatre and movement at colleges, universities, prisons and jails, and to the general public for almost 20 years. For the past 7 years she traveled around the US for her writing project,Traveling Home.

Lindsay Nance (she/her) is an actor and educator, and is thrilled to be working alongside Michelle Milne and this incredible team as an Assistant Director. As an actor, she has worked in New York, Chicago, and across the US. Favorite acting credits include... New York: Medea, (Titan Theatre); Regional: The Open Hand (world premiere) Titus Andronicus, A Christmas Carol, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, (Clarence Brown Theatre), Romeo and Juliet (GoShakes Theatre). Lindsay is currently developing a web-series, Revisionist Shakespeare, taking pivotal scenes from Shakespeare’s plays and reimagining what the female protagonist might have said if history and hindsight had been on their side.

Lukas Thompson is an alum of GC who composed and produced the music for Cymbeline. His involvement in GC theater has primarily been that of an actor (The Pirate King in Pirates of Penzance, Cassius in Julius Caesar), but he has enjoyed the opportunity to work as a part of the design team in this production. Lukas is a self-taught music producer who enjoys consuming and creating art of all kinds. Andrea Peters is a senior English major and Theatre minor. She started as ALD for Cymbeline, then became LD after the production moved online. She has previously worked in numerous technical roles for several shows, including co-LDing with Adam Hinegardner for the Musical Theatre Scenes last year. In her free time, Andrea enjoys painting, drawing, and baking, as well as working part time at the Good Library.

Adam Hinegardner was one of the Assistant Stage Managers (ASM) for Cymbeline! Adam is also a light designer, and has worked on a variety of projects; a few of which include Bright Star, Abra Cadaver, and Anniversary Season. It has been a long journey producing Cymbeline, and Adam is so thankful to have the experience of being an ASM and seeing the production come to life during a pandemic.

Although Madison is new to Goshen College this year, she is not new to the world of theater. She has worked on a number of shows onstage, offstage, and as an assistant director/producer at her alma maters, Hesston College and Bethany Christian Schools. Some of her most recent shows include Tuck Everlasting, Big Fish, and The Misanthrope. When Madison is not doing theater, you can often find her painting, playing games with friends, filming projects, or (more realistically) doing homework. She would like to thank everyone who has helped her transition to Goshen College go as smoothly as possible.

Salvador Escamilla is a senior computer science major at Goshen College. He is the captain of the GC track and field team and the cross country team along with president of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee. The only previous experience he's had with partaking in theater activities is mostly from middle and high school but he still greatly appreciates it and loves watching it!

Jeanette Shownclose Web Development

Jeanette Shown teaches courses in computing science, information technology, and informatics. She uses project based learning, self-discovery, and cooperative student group environments. Jeanette works with the Maple Scholar summer program. Her interests are human centered computing, machine learning, women in technology, assistive technology, and digital game development. She taught at the University of Washington Center for Social Science and Computation Research and the UW Institute of Technology. Her non-academic career includes positions with Microsoft and Blizzard/Sierra Entertainment (now Activision). She is a member of the Religious Society of Friends (Quaker), National President of Digital Eve (women in technology) organization, and the advisor for the E-Sports team.

Yujin is a junior at Goshen College double majoring in Graphic Design and Sustainable Food Systems. She designed the poster for Cymbeline, and has been working as a graphic designer for the Goshen College theater department.

Dillon is a 2020 GC graduate who began graphic designing for Cymbeline in the spring before production was interrupted. During her time at GC she also designed graphics for Almost, Maine and The Musical Cabaret of Love and Light, and was the archival photographer for Mother Hicks, Pirates of Penzance, Crimes of the Heart, Almost, Maine and The Musical Cabaret of Love and Light. In her free time she enjoys designing stickers and posters for her friends and family while also actively looking for a job. Kiprop is an international student from Kenya at Goshen College majoring in Nursing and also a psychology minor. Kiprop is a student athlete doing cross country, track and field, a student senator, peer justice educator and a photographer. Over time, Kiprop has been doing lots of photography work around campus from sports, landscape, cowshows, rodeos, portraits and nature. The most amazing experience has been taking theater pictures,“It feels differently special seeing the amazing theatre shows through lenses.” This summer he collaborated with a colleague in producing a song by “The girl named Tom.” (Walnut Hills) During his free time, Kiprop enjoys writing poems, running and taking pictures. “Theatre photography helps me view life differently thus caring for my patients better.”

This production is entered in the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF). The aims of this national theater education program are to identify and promote quality in college-level theater production. To this end, each production entered is eligible for a response by a regional KCACTF representative, and selected students and faculty are invited to participate in KCACTF programs involving scholarships, internships, grants and awards for actors, directors, dramaturgs, playwrights, designers, stage managers and critics at both the regional and national levels.

Productions entered on the Participating level are eligible for invitation to the KCACTF regional festival and may also be considered for national awards recognizing outstanding achievement in production, design, direction and performance.

Last year, more than 1,500 productions were entered in the KCACTF involving more than 200,000 students nationwide. By entering this production, our theater department is sharing in the KCACTF goals to recognize, reward, and celebrate the exemplary work produced in college and university theaters across the nation.
